Empty Beats for Lonely Rappers (CD)

Empty Beats for Lonely Rappers is an ever-evolving beat collage, adopting the quirkiness of a twisted nursery rhyme tale with unhurried and downright neighbourly charm. He weaves grainy hypnotic guitar melodies and haunting opera licks in and out of unflappably cozy hip hop beat constructions, consciously avoiding the gloss of so many down-tempo records.
Paso has a calm sense of self-assuredness behind the turntables, exuding an unpretentious flair that is starkly contrasted by his evident skilfulness as a turntablist and DJ. He's no stranger to the beat-making craft having refined and unleashed his production skills for one of Australia's finest hip hop acts TZU, and internationally renowned renegade art-hop crew Curse Ov Dialect. His production and remixing work with the Symbiotic Sound System (a collective of deft Melbourne artists and producers) has seen him remix the likes of indie group The Rectifiers.
These projects have seen him tour Australia multiple times with the likes of De La Soul, Ozomatli, Black Eyed Peas and Kid 606. In 2004, along with Curse..., Paso flew to America for an 18 day, 16 date tour with four other acts and has releases on the highly respected American label Mush Records and Liberation Records in Australia.
