It’s an incredible collaboration between Australian musicians and Jamaican vocalists produced by Mista Savona, who jumped on a plane and built on the relationships forged during Melbourne Meets Kingston – his highly acclaimed album from 2006.
Warn the Nation is a big step forward, this time enlisting some of the biggest reggae stars to Savona’s cause – creating arguably the most accomplished reggae album to come out of Australia. Musically the arrangements are stunning; the players are first rate; and vocally it’s out of this world – with an overarching theme addressing the urgency of global sustainability and the environment.
Mista Savona has created an internationally reputable dancehall album, a completely unique achievement born out of the suburbs of Melbourne. A must have for any reggae/dancehall fan. Did you know? The song Chant Rasta Sound features the legendary Alton Ellis - often referred to as the “Godfather of Rocksteady” and inducted into the ‘International Reggae and World Music Hall of Fame’ in 2006 – Ellis started out at Studio One with Coxsone Dodd and has been sampled countless times by the likes of KRS-One, Tupac and Notorious B.I.G. This is believed to be his final recording. Ellis died in October 2008.
